The Dwelling Place Church Experiences the Impossible

In December 2008, with $9,000 in savings, the pastor of The Dwelling Place sensed the Lord leading the church to begin its journey.  It was a simple prayer: “Lord, the church will follow Your leading.”  In January 2009, the dream began.  Ultimately, 8000 square feet was provided for TDP.  The walls came down in the suites of a storefront, and the building began.  The total cost of the project was in excess of $100,000, and all we can say is that the Lord provided the funds.  After all the renovation, city inspections, architecture costs, fees, etc., The Dwelling Place had experienced the impossible - a facility in which to worship, disciple, minister to and love people without incurring any debt at all.  On June 7, 2009 TDP held its first service in the church God had provided.

A local minister, when asked to describe The Dwelling Place, said “It’s a group of people following after Jesus and inviting others to come along.”  We kind of like that description.  We are moving to love the same people that Jesus loves - the tax collector, prostitute, adulterers, sinners - looking for opportunities to show the fruit of the Holy Spirit with a firm understanding that the cross is our message.  So we are reaching out to the community and the world.
